exams involving abdominal organs requires colon to be cleansed

-limited diet, laxatives, enemas
-technique selected by physician
-pt should let us know if the cleanse was completed before exam.

Patient presentation

A

pt should be in gown for exam
-remove metal artifacts: necklaces, bras, jeans, buttons, snaps etc.
-artifacts can appear as radiopaque (cannot see through it) structures on images.
