exams involving abdominal organs requires colon to be cleansed
-limited diet, laxatives, enemas

pt should be in gown for exam
-remove metal artifacts: necklaces, bras, jeans, buttons, snaps etc.
-artifacts can appear as radiopaque (cannot see through it) structures on images.
