Dx? 50yo male pt w/vague abdo pain & distention & no recent Hx of instrumentation.

Answer 1

• Dx: idiopathic pneumatosis of the colon.
• Usually colonic.
• Ix:
  
  • Large gas cysts in the colonic wall.
  • May be mistaken for polyps if the density is not recognized.
  • Must correlate w/any clinical evidence of bowel ischemia, instrumentation, etc.
