what are the conditions for EBW to take place?

A
  • has to be TCB (double or multi track only)
    -planned or unplanned
    -exit signal will be the first working signal that can be held at danger
  • if pre planned the end of degraded working board must be in position (if not, exit signal needs to be next to something prominent)
  • any unworked points must be secured

what does the End of degraded working sign look like?

A

EW in a yellow square with 2 red lines going bottom left to top right

what form does the driver need to fill out and how does it work?

A

driver must fill out a NR3190 form which is your “ticket” to enter EBW and when you come to the exit signal you must write cancelled on it and contact signaller

what speeds would you do in EBW?

A

max of 50mph or 15mph over points switch diamonds or swing nose crossings

but if the first train thru EBW then max of 15 mph

A

TPWS (will display a steady yellow on TPWS temp/isolate or fault )

A

the driver would have to proceed signal to signal stopping to contact the signaller at each signal

A

contact signaller come to clear understanding with instructions

complete NR3190

Isolate TPWS

inform guard what’s happening

pass entrance signal at danger with permission

max 50mph, 15 max mph if first one over and max 15 mph over points (switch diamonds and swing nose crossings)

on arrival to exit signal de isolate the tpws

cancel NR3190 by writing cancel across and contact signaller
