Criteria for referral to burn centre

Answer 1

• Airway injury
• Associated major trauma
• High voltage electrical injury
• Chemical burn
• Partial + full thickness > 10 % BSA in < 10 years and > 20% BSA in > 10 years
• Full thickness > 5%
• Burns to hands, feet, face, perineum, genitalia, major joints, eyes, ears
• Comorbid illness that will effect prognosis and treatment
• Anticipated need for social, emotional or long-term rehabilitation
