Mechanism of Action
Binds directly to cyanide forming cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12) which is readily excreted
Indications
Known or suspected cyanide poisoning
Contraindications
None
Adverse Effects
HTN, allergic rxn have been reported, N/V, dyspnea, indigestion, dizziness, bright red skin pigmentation that can last several days
Precautions
Not compatible in same IV line w/ many other medications
Dose and Administration
5g IV infusion @ 15mL/minute over 15 mins
May repeat one time
Pedi: 70mg/kg, same infusion rate
