Why is diversity in research important?

A
  1. Examine & counter myths and stereotypes with data
  2. Identify health disparities & needs
  3. Develop empirically-informed treatments for problems faced by specific populations
  4. Facilitate understanding about the “hows” & “whys” behind health disparities that exist across groups
  5. Provide data to inform policies guiding healthcare & access to basic resources needed for survival and thriving
