Synovial ball and socket
The femoral nerve is anterior to the hip joint in the femoral triangle and is therefore not compromised by the posterior movement of the femoral head
Medial prevents opening of the knee on the medial side (1/2) (preventing a valgum deformity) prevents abduction of the knee (1/2)
Lateral prevent knee opening on the lateral side (1/2) (preventing a varum deformity,) prevents adduction of the knee (1/2)
Knee flexion (1/2) and they are innervated by the sciatic nerve (1/2).
Any three from:
Deep insertion of femoral head in acetabulum (bony restriction)
Acetabular labrum deepens the acetabulum and insertion
Ligaments around the joint blending with joint capsule
Ligament of the head of the femur
Tight joint capsule
Large muscles around the joint
Reciprocal pull of the medial and lateral rotators pulling femoral head into acetabulum
