What to do with QL2 after flight Manual ?
The original sheet(s) of the QL2
are removed a the completion of each days flying,
by the pilot in command, then forwarded to operations control, Sydney.
The Aircraft Allocations Controller will process and forward the
original sheet/s of the QL2 to Technical Records Sydney.
What type of letters to use in tech log ?
Block letters
When making corrections in tech log what must you do ?
Strike out the wrong text but the text must remain legible underneath
Logs Entered in Error ?
Where an entire coupon is incorrect, the words “Entered in
Error” are to be written diagonally across the coupon with a single line above and
below the notation. The person making the correction shall append their signature,
certification authorisation number (or pilot licence number) and the date. The CRS
block is to be voided with a single diagonal line.
ATA ?
Pilots are to leave this field blank.
The four digit ATA code will only be used by
maintenance personnel
DEFECT / REPORT?
Describe the defect or maintenance requirement
as clearly and completely as possible. For defects
where fault codes are known, include these in the
text.
AMO APPROVAL NUMBER ?
If the maintenance action was
conducted by an AMO other than Eastern Australia
Airlines or Sunstate Airlines, the certifying individual
should enter the appropriate AMO Approval
Number in the OTHER field.
CERTIFICATE OF RELEASE TO SERVICE (CRS) ?
Check the box in this field if the certifying individual is
also signing the CRS on this coupon. If the CRS is
issued on a different coupon, draw a diagonal line
through the entire CRS field
Why can MELs that require an ‘O’ action have a later date/ time ?
They do not require the issue of a new CRS

“Flight day ? “
Means a 24 hour period (from midnight to midnight) local time, during which at least one
flight is initiated for the affected aircraft
“M” Symbol?
Indicates a requirement for a specific maintenance procedure which must be accomplished
prior to operation with the listed item inoperative.
“O” Symbol ?
Indicates a requirement for a specific operations procedure which must be
accomplished in planning for and/or operating with the listed item inoperative.
Normally these procedures are accomplished by the flight crew; however, other
personnel may be qualified and authorised to perform certain functions.
Category A ?
Q200 / Q300 - Whenever the specified interval is stated in cycles or flight time, the
time interval begins on the flight day following the day of discovery. Unless a time
interval shorter than 24 hours is indicated, the time interval shall commence at
midnight at the end of the day on which the malfunction was recorded.
Category B ?
Items in this category shall be repaired within three (3) consecutive calendar
days, excluding the day the malfunction was recorded in the aircraft
maintenance record / logbook.
For example, if it were recorded at 10 a.m. on January 26th, the three day
interval would begin at midnight on the 26th and end at midnight on the 29th.
Category C ?
Items in this category shall be repaired within ten (10) consecutive calendar
days, excluding the day the malfunction was recorded in the aircraft
maintenance record / logbook.
For example, if it were recorded at 10 a.m. on January 26th, the 10 day interval
would begin at midnight the 26th and end at midnight February 5th.
Category D ?
Items in this category shall be repaired within one hundred and twenty (120)
consecutive calendar days, excluding the day the malfunction was recorded in
the aircraft maintenance record/log book.
For example, if it were recorded at 10 a.m. on March 10th, the 120 day interval
would begin at midnight the 10th and end at midnight July 8th.

In the event that aircraft has sustained a suspected bird strike the crew should inspect the aircraft
during the walk around and record a bird strike in the QL3 only if the bird strike has resulted in
any of the following ?
Visible damage to the aircraft or engine intake
Possible ingestion into the engine
Possible impact to the propeller
When a defect is deferred, which copy of the QL-3
will be placed in the plastic sleeve at the front of
the Techlog folder?

The aircraft cycles and total air time data is retrieved from the TRAX database. If the information
is greater than 24 hours out of date, crew are to?

latest aircraft information available.
If the previous fuel data cannot be refreshed from the database or obtained from another source
(i.e. you operated the previous flight or from the fuel gauges if there was no uplift), crew are to?
contact Fleet Technical to obtain this figure.
In the event the aircraft has been refuelled and a subsequent aircraft change occurs, crew are to?
complete the fuel reconciliation via the paper QL-2 form as the electronic QL-2 will not be
submitted. Fields that need to be completed are:
• Date
• Flight Number
• Fuel at Start
• Fuel Added (in Litres)
• Shutdown Fuel
A comment should also be added to provide a reason why the aircraft was refuelled without
subsequently flying.
