Somatic Symptom Disorder
One or more somatic symptoms (eg. chronic pain, fatigue) that are distressing or cause significant disruption of daily life, accompanied by disproportionate concerns about seriousness, anxiety, and/or excessive time and energy devoted to health concerns; a diagnosed medical illness may or may not be present
Illness Anxiety Disorder
Excessive worry about having or acquiring a serious illness, despite little or no actual symptoms or a minimal risk of illness
Conversion Disorder
Experiencing neurological symptoms, such as paralysis or seizures, that can’t be explained by medical conditions, suggesting a psychological origin
Psychological Factors Affecting Other Medical Conditions
Psychological factors exacerbating or influencing the course, treatment, or outcome of a concurrent medical condition
Factitious Disorder
Faking or inducing symptoms of illness to gain sympathy, medical care, and attention (eg. taking excessive laxatives, contaminating urine samples, intentionally injuring onself)
