27
When must you carry an ELT
The flight must have a fitted auto ELT or carry at least 1 survival ELT if the aircraft is flown more than 50NM from the departure aerodrome or when flying over water, if your engine were to fail and you are outside of gliding range to execute a forced landing, you must carry a survival ELT
28
Carriage of handheld fire extinguishers
Only required for an aircraft with a MTOW above 5700kg or that can seat 7 or more passengers
29
What are CASA's fuel planning requirements for a flight
For an aeroplane less than 5700kg MTOW and under VFR flight rules Minimum amount of useable fuel at commencement of flight must be the sum of taxi fuel, trip fuel, alternate fuel, holding fuel, contingency, final reserve and additional fuel Final reserve is 30 mins holding fuel Contingency N/A
30
What are WhiteStar's fuel planning requirements
Taxi and takeoff allowances to 50ft AGL Major aerodromes 12L Regional aerodromes 8L Unlicensed aerodromes 5L Block fuel flow 36L/H Holding fuel flow 25L/H Final reserve fuel 45mins (holding fuel flow) = 18.75L Contingency fuel 15% flight fuel (fuel for flight + taxi) = 6L
31
How must passengers be seat/secured during flight
The pilot/operator must not assign a pax a seat that is not fitted with a seatbelt or should harness Seatbelts must by worn during taxi, takeoff, landing and whenever instructed to do so by the PIC
32
How old is an infant
Younger than 2 yrs old
33
How old is a child
Older than 2 but younger than 13yrs old
34
How must an infant be restrained
Must be restrained by a supplement loop belt attached to an adults seatbelt while seated on their lap
35
How is a child restrained
If occupying their own seat, must be restrained by a seatbelt of their own
36
Can 2 children sit on one seat?
Yes, only if the combined weight of the two children is under 77kg. When fastened, they must be sat side by side and restrained by a seatbelt around both children
37
4 ways must cargo be loaded onto the aircraft
Pilot/operator must not place cargo in a position where... It could damage, obstruct or cause failure to the aircraft Exceed the load limitations of the aircraft Obstruct an emergency exit or restrict access to one The cargo and means of restraint must not interfere with the safe operation of the aircraft
38
Can cargo be placed on an unoccupied seat?
Only if it weighs less than 77kg (unless seat manufacturer allows otherwise)
39
Where must the cargo be placed if a fire were to break out
In a position where the whole compartment can be easily reached by a crew member with a handheld fire extinguisher
