Q

AUTOMATIC FLIGHT

  1. What would cause the A/P to disengage?
A
  • Pushing either A/P disengage switch
  • Pushing the A/P DISENGAGE bar down
  • Column or wheel force override
  • Activating either pilot’s control wheel trim switch
  • Moving either STAB TRIM PRI or the STAB TRIM B/U cutout switch to the CUTOUT position
  • Pushing either TO/GA switch with a single A/P engaged below ft 2,000 RA
  • Pushing either TO/GA switch with a single A/P engaged at and above ft 2,000 RA with flaps not up or G/S engaged
  • One second after activation of stick shaker if A/P is engaged in ALT HOLD, VNAV PTH (in a level segment), VNAV PTH (Flaps 15 or greater), V/S (Flaps 15 or greater), or G/S (single channel only) modes.
  • 5 minutes after continuous activation of stick shaker if not in any of the above modes
  • 5 minutes after continuous activation of stick shaker if the A/P was re-engaged
  • Pushing either TO/GA switch after touchdown with both A/Ps engaged in CMD
  • Either left or right IRS system failure or FAULT light illuminated
  • Loss of electrical power or a sensor input
  • Loss of respective hydraulic system pressure

Q

AUTOMATIC FLIGHT

  1. When will the STAB OUT OF TRIM light illuminate?

Q

AUTOMATIC FLIGHT

  1. What does a flashing amber A/T alert light indicate?
A

An A/T airspeed error where airspeed differs from commanded value by +10 or -5 kts and is not approaching commanded value in flight with flaps not fully retracted

Q

AUTOMATIC FLIGHT

  1. What does THR HLD on the FMA indicate?
A

The A/T automatically engages the THR HOLD mode during the takeoff at 84 kts. When THR HOLD is engaged, power is removed from the A/T servo motors preventing thrust levers from moving during the takeoff roll and initial climb out. Two separate functions remove power from the servo motors:
- a software function, and
- a hardware function
Only when both functions have removed power to the servo motors will the A/T mode display THR HLD on the FMA.

Q

AUTOMATIC FLIGHT

  1. On a go-around with the autothrottle armed, after the first push of either TO/GA switch, the thrust levers advance to reduced go-around N1 to produce what rate of climb?
A

1,000-2,000 fpm

17
Q

AUTOMATIC FLIGHT

  1. On a single-engine go-around, a push of either TO/GA switch will command an initial pitch attitude of how many degrees nose up?
A

13 degrees nose up

18
Q

AUTOMATIC FLIGHT

  1. What occurs in minimum speed reversion?
A

AP disengages and FD bars bias out of view one second after stick shaker activation

Q

*EXTRA CREDIT *

AUTOMATIC FLIGHT

  1. With the BUS TRANS switch in AUTO, what occurs automatically with the DC cross bus tie relay when Glide Slope is active on a FD or AP ILS approach?
A

The DC cross bus tie relay opens, thus DC bus 1 and DC bus 2 are isolated and are powered by their respective TR unit.
