What proteins does active transport use?
Carrier proteins spanning the cell membrane
Why does that molecule that is being actively transported bind to?
Specific binding site on the carrier protein
Step 3 of active transport- ATP bind?
ATP binds to the carrier protein from the inside of the cell and it is hydrolysed into ADP and Pi and releases energy
4th step of active transport? (Phosphate group being attached)
The carrier protein changes shape and releases the molecule to the other side
5th step of active transport? (Phosphate ion being released)
Phosphate ion is then released and the protein returns to its original shape
