Q

Who is Veronica and What is Her story?

A

Veronica was a woman who suffered from persistent migraines and didn’t know why. It wasn’t until Dr. Manchanda looked into her life and found that she had been living in poor conditions. This demonstrates that health extends outside the doctors office

Q

What does Chadwick Boseman’s story have to do with personal, public, and global health?

A

He died too young, it shook the whole world. But there was the question as to why. It turns out he was battling colorectal cancer, and didn’t tell many people. On a personal level, this means that it is important to make sure you know the signs and can make that appointment to get evaluated. Boseman was in the public eye, being a famous actor and all, so his death made the general public more aware of colorectal cancer. Globally, it showed that there are disparities in research (especially colorectal cancer) involving African Americans. If the research had included them, Boseman could have lived longer
