Chylamydia
Causes: STI caused by a highly specialised bacterium, chylamidia trachomatis.
Transmitted by vaginal or anal sex with an infected person. Bacterium is able to reproduce.
Symptoms: Males - infection of urethra known as non-specific urethritis, yellow mucus is discharged from the penis and burning sensation when passing urine, also causes the inflammation of the epididymis.
Females - no symptoms or pelvic inflammatory disease.
Treatments: A uterine test can be done for accurate diagnosis.
antibiotics, however treatment cannot be fully eliminated from the body.
Gonorrhoea
Cause: bacteria niesseria gonorrhoeae that is transmitted during sexual intercourse, can be also cause during oral with partner that is infected with the infection.
Symptoms (incubation period): appear after 2-10 days, males - urethrae results in a burning feeling and extreme pain when passing urine, urethra may become permanently constricted, resulting in difficulty in urinating.
Females - no early symptoms, pus production, no pain in general.
Treatment: antibiotics, however strains of gonococcus are resistance to antibiotics and these strains are really rare.
syphilis
Cause: By a thin flexible, spiral - shaped bacterium, Treponema pallidum. The disease is normally contracted by direct sexual contact.
Symptoms: 1. one or more small sores that appear on the sex organs, fingers, eyelid or lips.
2. skin rashes, fevers, disorders of bones and eyes.
Treatment: antibiotics are usual treatment, surgery may be necessary for the later stage where it is impacting other vital organs… heart disease, weakening of blood vessels, blindness.
Genital herpes
Causes: common STI, that is caused by the herpes simplex virus. Transmitted by skin to skin contact and can therefore be passed down during genital, oral or anal sex (unprotective).
Symptoms:Painful blisters developing around genetic areas such as the penis in males and vagina in females.
Treatments: No way of removing blisters when affected, medication is used to reduce main, and saline dressing is used to clean up the blisters.
Genital warts
causes: Found on different body parts caused by HPV. sexual transmission is not the case, they are passed down by a sexual partner who has been affected by the virus.
Symptoms: Warts found on the genital areas, vagina, labia, cervix or penis, may occasionally be found in the anus, throat or inside the penis or vagina, therefore cannot be seen.
Treatment: Freezing, burning, surgery, laster treatment, HPV vaccines
HIV
Cause: human immunodeficiency virus. known to cause aids, caused from unprotective sex, sharing needles and syringes, blood transfusions, infected mother to her child.
Symptoms: fever, sore throat, swollen glands, rash, headache, tiredness, muscle and joint pain.
Treatments: No specific sure for HIV infection or a vaccine to prevent infections.
unless both are active and latent cells are able to be destroyed, an infected person cannot be cured.
Trichomoiasic
Causes: infection caused by a protozoan, trichomonas vaginalis.
symptoms: vaginal discharge and severe vaginal itch, inflammation of the mucous membranes of the vagina in a women and urethra in men.
Treatment: antibiotics, given to both individuals at the same time, even if there are no symptoms present.
Pubic lice and scabies
Causes: transmitted by sexual contact, transmission frequency occurs merely through pro-longes, warm and close contact.
Symptoms - Crab like organisms on hair around pubic regions can cause severe itching and maybe allergies.
Treatments - Treated using lotions that are applied to the skin. The lotion kills the insects of mites and also their eggs.
