2. Respiratory depression
3. Nausea/vomiting
4. Occasionally - bradycardia
5. Rigidity of the diaphragm, intercostals and jaw (rare)

2. Bleeding or bilateral occluded nose within

1-5 yrs (20kg) 30mcg (0.1ml) then 30mcg @ 10/60
5-12 yrs (20-40kg) 60mcg (0.2ml) then 60mcg @ 10/60
Small adult (40-70kg) 120mcg (0.3ml) then 60mcg @ 10/60
Adult (>70kg) 180mcg (0.6ml) then 60mcg @ 10/60

Fentanyl - Special notes (6)

Answer 9

1. Max 0.5ml per nostril
2. Doses of morphine post fentanyl at half doses
3. Doses of ketamine post fentanyl at half doses
4. No fentanyl if max morphine has been given (AP)
5. Antiemetics should only be given if pt is nauseous/vomiting prior to fentanyl
6. Never administer IN fentanyl IV
