Karyotype
Visual representation of genome showing homologous pairs of autonomies (and x+y)
Prophase
Chromosomes condense, nucleoli disappear, centrosomes move to opposite sides and mitotic spindles attach to sister chromatids and pul them to the Centre
Metaphase
Duplicated chromosomes line up at the metaphase plate and kinetochore microtubules connect to the kinetochores of each sister chromatid
Anaphase
Chromatids detach at the centromeres, kinetochore microtubules shorten and pull the chromatids to opposite sides of the cell. Non-kinetochore microtubules lengthen and the cell elongates
Telophase
Chromosomes lengthen and nucleoli form in new nuclei. microtubules break down
Cytokinesis
Animal cells have a cleavage furrow, plants have a cell plate that becomes a cell wall. Both separate the cell into two new ones
Cell cycle
G1, S, G2, mitotic phase
