What are special purpose records?
Stakeholders are asked to keep a record of what they do when engaged in a task or process
Advantages and disadvantages of or special purpose records
Adv-
Good for capturing metrics, problems, time and motion etc
And they avoid the ‘big brother’ aspect of observation
Dis-
People dislike the extra work
They must be done real time or accuracy will suffer
People might ‘bend’ the records to put themselves in a better light
Describe the different types of observation
Formal- watching a specific task being done
Protocol analysis-ask staff to carry out a specific task and to describe each step
Shadowing- following a member of staff for a certain period to understand a specific user role
Describe scenario analysis
Essentially telling the story of the task step by step but can be time consuming
Describe prototyping
Involved building simulations of a process or system in rider to review them with the business representatives and thereby increase understanding about requirements
Describe user role analysis
Identifying specific groups of individuals where all the members of a group need to access a set of services from a business system.
