A

may be lots of information to study in a content analysis so before quantifying the information you have to agree on categories that are meaningful to the investigation

  • enables us to analysis of a wide range of materials as will not limit to a single point of view
  • less ethical issues as people are not dealt with directly
  • flexible as data can be both quantitative and qualitative

limitations of content analysis

A
  • findings limited by researchers expectations as they decide the categories so interpretation may be subjective so what is reported may not be accurate
  • any media communication studies may be outside of the context is occured so if it is taken out of context it may not be an accurate representation
