What does immediate mean?
Immediate does not mean instant but it must be imminent
What does imminent mean?
This means that the force could happen at any time in the near future
In what case was imminent force demonstrated?
This is demonstrated In R v Smith v superintendent of Woking police station where the defendant looked through a window at the victim late at night and made threatening gestures. The court held that the victim could still apprehend immediate force because the defendant could enter the room at any moment.
