Introduction
The idea that remembering memories can be influenced by other cognitive processes (so can causes errors and inaccuracies when recalling)
Proactive interference
When encoding/initial creation of memory is affected by our prior understanding and experiences (schemas)
Retroactive interference
When external factors affect memory (misinformation and leading questions) and lead to the creation of false memories or modifications to existing ones
Reconsolidating process
Ultimately, new version of the memory is reconsolidated (stored in place of the original)
