A

A method of telling the future developed in Eastern Asia or the China area. The King would often be the one to initiate the act for his country. They would write questions on bones, throw them into the fire, and then read the cracks that the fire put in the bones. They would then write the answers on the bones.

The Neo-Babylonian Empire took over the Assyrians and ruled over the Fertile Crescent. They are called Neo because this is a seperate Babylonian empire of this later time in history.

Nebuchadnezzar II conquered Judah in 587 BCE and deported the Jews. He did this during his reign as the king of the Neo-Babalonian empire

What was the relationship between the Persians and Medes?

A

The Medes allied with Babylon and later with the Persians, who conquered the empire. The Medes are often jumbled with the Persians because before Cyrus the Great the Medes and Persians coexisted in somewhat harmony as they both lived in the same location. The Medes were taken over when the Persians rose. (They allied themselves with Persia)

Cyrus II was the first ruler of the Persian Empire, known for uniting tribes and conquering Babylon.

What did Darius I accomplish?
Darius I is known for solidifying the Persian Empire and governing a large territory. He implemented many systems like the postal service, spies, and separating the Persian empire into areas (Satrapies) that were governed by different people. This all led to the empire being solidified and made it last much longer then most empires at this point in history.

What are Satraps and Satrapies?
Satraps were governors of provinces in the Persian Empire, monitored by spies.

What was the Royal Road?
The Royal Road connected the Arabian Sea to the Mediterranean, enabling trade and travel. The Persians made it and used it for the postal system and trade.

What was the Postal System in the Persian Empire?
The Postal System allowed travel across the empire in a week using carriers at stop stations. They did this by travelling on the Royal Road.
