• Be constantly aware of your surroundings and look for coming trains
• Only cross ballast to ballast
• If LS <100mph, position of safety 1.25m from nearest running line

• do not touch bonds (red or yellow) at the rail ends

• Always consider conductor rails to be live
• Do not cross a conductor rail, if you have to try to do so at a gap or where protection boards present
• Do not step on or allow clothing/equipment to touch the conductor rail
• Always step over conductor rail and running line in one go.
• Do not step into floodwater which may be in contact with conductor rail
