Dexamethasone, a corticosteroid (glucocorticoid), mimics steroids normally secreted by the adrenal cortex. Its properties allow for inhibition of inflammatory reactions and immunosuppression. It is often also used for chemotherapy associated nausea and a number of palliative symptoms’ control.

• Bronchospasm associated with acute resp distress nonresponsive to nebulised salbutamol
• Acute exacerbation of COPD
• Suspected Croupe
• Severe Covid

• Hypersensitivity to Dexamethasone/other corticosteroids

Cautions of Dexamethasone?

• Only relevant at prolonged/high dose use
• However, if solution is not clear or is contaminated it should be discarded (as no antimicrobial agent).
