25
CRT monitors (cathode ray tube) work like what tube?
Xray tube
26
LCD display is what
Light crystal display monitor using light displayed through liquid crystal that moves with electric current
27
What is an operating system
The bridge and software between apps and the hardware.
28
Three major OS of today
Windows, macintosh, and unix/linux
29
Four types of OSs
Real time, (specific machinery like xray console) Single user/task (computer do 1 task efficiently) Singleuser, multitask (one user do many things) Multiuser (one server for multiple people)
30
What is a computer network?
1. Two or more objects sharing resources or info 2. Computers and server connected by communication channels sharing data and program resources
31
What is LAN
Local area network, small area with cables or wireless access points that allow sharing of data
32
What is WAN?
Wide area network Spans a large area, city, state, or nation Connects non physically attatched computers. Most expensive
33
Peer to peer network
All computers are equal and all equally share information and work Maximum 10 computer
34
Server based network
Server is centralized and controls the operations and information and storage. Ex: PACS to store and distribute information
35
Client-based network
Centralized computer controls the network, but the server processes the resource as requested by the client and returns only the results back to the client. (Lessens load)
36
Server vs thin client vs thick client
Server = computer managing resources for other computers Thin client = device requests service be done; any computer Thick client = computer working independantly and managing its own files and can share its work and resources
37
What is a coaxial cable
Wiring Center conductor wire surrounded by insulation and then a grounded sheild of braided wires. Sturdiest wire used
38
What is a twisted pair wire
Four twisted pairs of copper wire insulated and bundled with RJ-45
39
What is a fiber optic cable
Glass threads to transmit data. Fiber optic core wrapped in protective plastic
40
What is a wireless connection
Uses radifrequencies between transmitters to communicate data. Has a limited range taking into account wall thickness and distance.
41
What is a network bridge
The connection between segmented or broken up Networks. It is a physical wired connection
42
What is a network router
The network router is a more sophisticated device. It helps with segmenting the network and organizing or directing messages to their correct location as they come through.
43
What is Network protocol
The set of rules the data uses to travel along the Network Protocol is delivered in layers known as protocol stacks
44
What are the layers of a network communication protocol stack. How many layers are there usually? Name the four basics
There are usually seven layers here are the four basics Layer 4: transport layer makes sure data packets are sequence correctly and do not contain errors Layer 3: Network layer breaks up the data into frames and decides which path the frame will take. Layer 2: The data link layer packages the data Layer 1: the physical layer consists of the networking media and physical components. This layer moves bits from one place to another
45
What is topology
A physical or geometric layout of connected devices on a network
46
What is the bus topology
A network where all devices are physically attached to and listen for communication on a singular wire all at the same time. ( like sitting on a bus all kids are sitting next to each other all in the same bus )
47
What is ring topology
Ring topology is a network where all the devices are connected in a circle. Each device passes received messages to the next node until it reaches the location intended
48
What is star topology
A Network that has the devices connected to a central Hub and then they are all individually connected to that Central hub. Data comes from the central Hub to the individual connected computers
49
What is mesh topology
A Network that has multiple Pathways interconnecting devices and networks. It has redundancy built in with multiple connections.
50
What type of topology is the internet based off
Mesh
51
What is dicom stand for
Digital Imaging and Communications in medicine
52
What is dicom
Dicom is the standard for exchanging medical images among networked medical devices. It is usually layered on top of tcp/ip.
53
Name three reasons why dicom is better
It required strict contents of image header and pixel data so it's higher tech. It required tc/ip which allows devices to make use of commercial hardware and software It embraced open standard of development between vendors and users for standards
54
Name three of the most common service classes seen in modalities and packs for dicom
Image storage, query or retrieval, print, modality work list, modality performed procedure, storage commitment, interchange media storage
55
What is HL - 7
It is a accredited standards developing organization set for medical devices, insurance, imaging, and pharmacy. It oversees the standards of data and operates at many levels. Sort of like DICOM Generally it's used between the hospital information system and the Radiology information system (his and ris)
56
What is his
Hospital information system that holds the patient's full medical information including billing and ordering
57
What is RIS
Holds already specific patient data from scheduling to reports
58
What is Pacs
Electronic reading room and file room (storage)
59
what is a display workstation
any computer that a health care worker uss to view a digital image
60
what is an archive server
the file room of PACS
