What are type one errors?

A

Optimistic error - Have rejected the null hypothesis and accepted the alternate hypothesis
Researcher claims they have significant results when the results were caused by random variables

What are type two error?

A

Pessimistic error - the Null hypothesis was accepted and the alternative hypothesis was rejected
This is when the effect the researchers was attempting to demonstrate does exist that was a significant result but the researcher claims there was no significance in the results
