Where is CCK produced?
I-cells of the duodenum and jejunum
What does CCK do?
Stimulates gallbladder contraction + pancreatic enzyme secretion; slows gastric emptying; promotes satiety
Where is secretin produced?
S-cells of the duodenum
What does secretin do?
Stimulates pancreatic bicarbonate secretion; decreases gastric acid secretion; increases bile secretion
Where is gastrin produced?
G-cells of the antrum of the stomach and duodenum
What does gastrin do?
Increases gastric acid (HCl) secretion; stimulates gastric mucosal growth + motility
Where is leptin produced?
Adipose tissue
What does leptin do?
Suppresses appetite by acting on hypothalamus; signals energy sufficiency
Where is ghrelin produced?
Stomach (especially during fasting)
What does ghrelin do?
Stimulates hunger; increases gastric motility; promotes growth hormone secretion
