A

-increased productivity as staff are better skilled

  • improved quality of finished product
  • fewer accidents will occur
  • greater job satisfaction and motivation for employees

-lower staff turnover as staff feel valued as the business has invested in them

  • better candidates applying for posts due to the improved reputation of the organisation
  • employees are trained in a range of skills ( multi-skilling),therefore establishing more flexible workforce

  • financial cost of training can be high as off the job training may need to be paid for
  • once trained,staff may leave for better paid jobs

-productivity may decrease as staff are trained and are taken away from their jobs for training

  • some employees may not want to be trained and so may be demotivated and waste the training
