Social Learning Theory
we learn not just through direct experience but by observing the actions and outcomes of others’ behavior.
Observational Learning
learning by watching and mimicking models. Ex) pavents, Siblings, etc
Vicarious Conditioning
learning something by watching someone else model a behavior.
Social Cognitive Theory
(Bandura) ~ part of what people know results from observing others. Includes 4 steps: Attention, retention, reproduction, and motivation.
Attention
Noticing that Something is happening in the environment
Reproduction
A producing action that mimics what was noticed.
Retention
Recall of what was noticed
Motivation
A consequence from the environment that changes the likelihood of the behavior recurring (reinforcement + punishment).
-an internal state / drive that energizes and directs behavior in response to a stimulus to achieve a goal.
Insight Learning
a sudden realization that “just came to you” of how to solve a problem.
Latent Learning
learning that happens without immediate reward or conscious effort, remaining hidden (latent) until there’s a motivation or need to show it
Prosocial Behavior
Actions intended to help or benefit others, like sharing, comforting, or cooperating.
Can be learned through observation.
