What is the basis of XLD agar?
A
The basis of XLD agar is that the media includes deoxycholate to inhibit the growth of gram-positive bacteria and contains ingredients like xylose, lactose, sucrose, lysine, thiosulphate and a pH indicator like phenol red to distinguish between gram-negative bacteria based on what they metabolise.
