Study on minority influence

A

Control conditions had participants indicate the slide as blue as it really was. In inconsistent conditions each group had 2 confederates who described some of the slides as green. Consistent condition described all the slides as green.
When they were consistent, 32% of participants indicated at least once they thought the slide was green too, compared to 8% in the inconsistent condition, and less than 1% in the control.

Key parts of an influential minority

A

Project self confidence and be consistent in advocacy
However, don’t be perceived as rigid/inflexible. Be flexible and open minded.
Get people form the majority to cross over and adopt minority views. Leads to snowball effect
The more people that identify with the person persuading, the more likely it works.
