What does Ensure mean?
To take necessary and appropriate actions (from the readers location) to guarantee that the component or reading is as specified. Local action to achieve the specified goal is NOT intended unless specific guidance to do so is provided.
What does Faulted mean?
Mechanical failure of S/G feed or steam pressure boundary.
What does GO TO mean?
Discontinue use of present procedure and perform actions of cited procedure.
What does Intact mean?
A steam generator that is neither faulted nor ruptured and is available as a heat sink.
What does Locally mean?
An action performed outside the control room at a specific component or device.
What does Manually mean?
An action performed by the operator in the control room. (The word is used in contrast to an automatic action, which takes place without operator intervention.)
What does REFER TO mean?
Directs a user to another procedure, section, or enclosure for
concurrent performance while remaining in the initial procedure.
What does RETURN TO mean?
Directs a user to previous step. Reader starts again at the
indicated point, and continues in the procedure from that point, including any transitions associated with the sequence
What does Ruptured mean?
Mechanical failure of S/G primary to secondary boundary.
What does Stable mean?
Maintained steady. If a parameter is being controlled within a desired range, or if a slight trend in either direction is occurring, operator judgement may be used to determine if parameter is considered stable
What does Uncontrolled mean?
NOT under the control of the operator and incapable of being
controlled by the operator using available equipment.
What does Verify mean?
To observe that a specific condition exists. (no action to correct).
What is a Critical Parameter?
A specific parameter that must be frequently monitored and
precisely controlled to ensure the successful outcome of an activity.
What is a Variance?
Taking action during an event not covered by an approved procedure in order to protect public health and safety, or mitigate damage and injury.
What is a Prudent Action/Memory Item?
Pre-approved steps that may be completed as soon as the condition is present.
Why should you be careful performing an AP when you are in an EP procedures?
AP procedures are written assuming a safety injection has not occurred.
When are ACC (Adverse Containment Conditions) entered?
When containment pressure has exceeded 3.0 psig?
Does the RO have to get permission from the CRS before performing Enclosure 1 Actions?
Yes, CRS shall verify that conditions are met before giving concurrence for the RO to perform any required actions.
What are the two entry conditions for EP procedures?
What does the red film on the monitor light panel mean?
Certain indicating lights are misplaced and do not fit the rules of use. These lights are marked with red film to indicate an exception to the rules of use and shall be evaluated to determine if the component is in the proper position.
What does a blue dot on the monitor light panel mean?
Certain penetrations contain check valves in series with the containment isolation valve. With a check valve in same line, the check valve serves as the containment isolation and a declaration of loss of containment is not warranted.
If equipment fails to automatically position following a safety signal, a licensed operator is expected to properly position the equipment with the exception of what component?
Diesel generators are an exception to this philosophy and shall NOT be started until directed by procedure.
Unless specific guidance is given in an immediate action or on an enclosure, what signals need approval and guidance from
the Control Room Supervisor (CRS) to reset?
Following a CA auto start, crews shall NOT take action to reset and control CA until which conditions are met?
Any S/G reaches its normal level setpoint
OR
Direct procedural guidance is given
