Contrast with “Ainda” (Still)
“Ainda” indicates something continues from before, while “já não” indicates something has stopped.
Examples:

“Ainda penso nela” (I still think about her) - continuing from before
“Já não penso nela” (I don’t think about her anymore) - stopped doing something I used to do
“Ainda moro em Lisboa” (I still live in Lisbon) - continuing
“Já não moro em Lisboa” (I don’t live in Lisbon anymore) - changed
