- Auto inflammatory disease, T3 hypersensitivity, Antibodies directly damage tissues
- Butterfly rash, joint pain, heart problems
- Prevent organ damage, decrease drug toxicity–> NSAIDs, glucocortcoids, immune suppressants

- Accumulation of T cells, macrophages and epithelioid granulomas (eye, skin, lungs, liver, lymph)

Sjogren’s Syndrome

A

M4:
- Female, over 40, family Hx of Autoimmune disease
- Autoimmune destruction of endocrine glands (salivary and lacrimal glands)
- Manage symptoms–> dry mouth, swollen glands
- Treat with artificial tears, saliva stimulants and immuneosuppresants

Rheumatoid Arthritis

A

M4:
- Ig mediated joint inflammation, RF reacts with with IGG to form immune complexes
- Get xrays of hands and feet to see deformities and do RF antibody testing
- Articular manifestations
- Joint pain after 30 minutes of rest
- Drugs: Disease modifying anti-rheumatic drugs, NSAIDs, glucocorsteriods
